SIEMENS Strategically Deploys HECOR Office Pods

04,2026

Siemens Numerical Control (Nanjing) Co., Ltd. is the largest R&D and manufacturing base for Siemens Motion Control outside of Germany. Leveraging continuous digital transformation and AI-driven adaptive manufacturing, the company has been successfully selected as a "Global Lighthouse Factory" by the World Economic Forum.

Yet, even for such a benchmark factory headquarters, the open-plan office layout presents unique acoustic challenges inherent to world-class manufacturing facilities —

// Office Pain Points of a World-Class Factory

The office environment at the Siemens Numerical Control factory headquarters highly encapsulates the typical pain points faced by large technology manufacturing enterprises:

01 The crisis of focus in technologyR&D

Siemens engineers need to spend long hours on code writing, algorithm debugging, and solution design. In an open-plan office environment, frequent discussions and machine operating noises can interrupt deep thinking at any time, making high-density mental work fragmented.

02 The confidentiality challenge in collaboration

As a world-class digital factory, Siemens’ Jiangsu facility frequently holds remote meetings with its headquarters in Germany and other overseas teams. The discussions—often covering technical solutions and supply chain strategies—are highly confidential. Conducting such communications in open workstations not only disturbs nearby colleagues but also poses a risk of commercial information leakage.

03 The Venue Anxiety of Instant Communication

In project management and collaboration, small-scale, impromptu discussions happen at any time. The traditional meeting room booking process is cumbersome, while discussions in public areas disturb nearby colleagues — leaving teams often trapped in the awkward situation of having "nowhere to talk."

// Re-planning of Working Space

In response to the above pain points, HECOR introduced single-person office pods to Siemens’ Jiangsu factory. Tested by SGS, these pods achieve speech noise reduction of over 29.5 dB, significantly isolating external ambient noise. The pods are equipped with a high-efficiency fresh air system and adjustable LED lighting to ensure comfort during extended use.

These single-person pods have been strategically deployed across different areas of Siemens’ world-class factory:

· Next to workstations in the R&D area: Engineers can step into the office pod at any time for deep programming or solution writing without leaving the workstation area. The quiet environment inside the pod makes “immersive work” possible.

· At the corners of open collaboration areas: In zones with frequent cross-departmental collaboration, single-person pods are deployed at the edges of the collaboration space. When employees need to have confidential video conferences with overseas colleagues, or when technical experts need to provide remote guidance for on-site issues, they can quickly step into the pod to ensure sensitive information is not disclosed.

· Idle areas in public corridors and lobbies: Making full use of corners and spaces in factory building corridors, lobbies, and other underutilized areas. The single-person pod occupies only about 1 square meter, and its modular design allows for rapid deployment without civil engineering, transforming "idle space" into "efficient space."

The partnership between Siemens Jiangsu Factory and HECOR represents a precise upgrade to the office model of a world-class factory headquarters. While retaining the collaborative advantages of open-plan offices, the introduction of single-person office pods precisely addresses the real needs for focus and privacy in core scenarios such as R&D, cross-border communication, and cross-departmental collaboration.
